It’s been three full months since you started your New Year’s Resolutions – how are they progressing?
It can be helpful from time to time to treat your personal goals, health, and “state of affairs” like a business. Today, you are going to conduct a “Q1 Review,” including the areas mentioned above.
The reason we want to set formal review periods is to make sure we are staying on track (otherwise, you might be running fast but in the wrong direction) or course correct if we took an unplanned turn.
Areas for Review
Please find below a list of the areas we recommend for review (note: it is likely you already know which of these areas you’re crushing and which of these areas need (serious) help; it’s equally helpful to write down what you’re doing well as it is to call out what’s not going well):
- Personal Health (Physical, Mental, Emotional, Social, Spiritual)
- Business / Career
- Financial Health
- Relationships
- Passion Projects / Charity Work
- Side Hustle(s)
For each section, make a list of things that are going well, things that need improvement, and immediate action items to progress them forward. Then, prioritize which of them needs to improve first (effectiveness) and then make a plan to move the needle (efficiency / execution).
Q2 Plan of Execution
This is now your Q2 Plan of Execution, which we’ll review again at the end of June. It should include a plan for Q2, monthly goals, and weekly goals, which are then broken down into daily actions.
All we have is today; however, each “today” adds up to “tomorrow” and pretty soon you have behavioral patterns that are hard to break. We want those hard to break patterns to be great forces of good in your life, not ones that hold us back.
Today is the best day ever; let’s go get it.
